Talking SAS tips and help needed

decided to swap out the crap ifs and go with the real deal stragith axle i found an axle from a yota pick-up it had approx. 130,000 mile on it the guy wanted $400 for it from the junkyard but i has no front drivshaft wht driveshaft fits? im running a bone stock 1990 sr5 4wd 3.0 with a 5-speed manual trans. im also considering using all-pro's kit has anyone used it yet? i just need some info it looks like its gonna cost me $3,000 installed (Roughlly)

im going with the 4" lift springs and sticking with 2" lift coils and 2.5 inch spacers and a drop braket for the rear bar.
oh yeah dont worry bout power if this works good the next thing to go in is the 3" body lift and a 3.4l supercharged taco engine.
remember i need all the help i can get so lmk what youve got!

drive shaft

what year was your axle from? if its the long gusset one fom 84-85 trucks(gusset goes whole way to knuckle) your original drive shaft is the rite lenght and will bolt up. the 84-85 and 86 and up shafts are the same lenght. i noticed this from stripping the trucks i got to sell parts on ebay that were the drive shaft attaches at the front is the same. if the axle is from a 83 or older you will need the newer yoke. the older trucks used smaller bolts and the pattern was difference. hope this helps.

I believe I read somewhere that the yoke/flange combo on the 90's version diff and driveline have a greater angle of rotation so if you swap the flange from the 90's diff onto the '84-85 you will have better articulation in the driveline.
I want to do a spring over too, but I still have my dead/dying '85 EFI sitting in the driveway. Gotta swap out the whole truck for a 4door first

actually its the 83 and older trucks that have the lower angle of rotation for the drive shafts. the 84-85 drive shafts are the same angle as the 86 and newer ifs trucks. what makes them better is that where the u joint goes into the flange on 84 and up trucks it is a 1/4 of a inch farther from flange than on 83 and older trucks.

See I knew somebody would know the real info on that one. Apparently on the article I read the guy doing the spring over used an '83 front end. Are '84-'85 frontends really that hard to come by?

84-85 rears

the only difference in the 84 and 85 axles and the 83 older ones is the lenght of the gusset on the drivers side. the 84-85's they go to the knukle 81-83 the gusset goes to the spring 79-80 have no gusset at all. the yoke is the same only difference is the bolt pattern 84-85 use bigger bolts than the 83 and older ones. the angle of rotation has nothing to do with the axle it is all in the drive shaft. the 84-85 yokes are the same bolt pattern as the ifs trucks. i got a couple of the 84-85 axles but there isn't any advantage really except the gusset actually with the 79-80 axles you would get better ground clearance since they don't have any gusset
