Same frame on 4Runner and Tacoma?
Well I have been looking forever for a bull bar for my 4Runner, but NO ONE has the kind I want. I want the kind like PP makes for Tundras and Tacomas as shown here: click. I just haven't found a manufacturer for one specifically designed for a 4Runner, but I know they're out there because a local guy has one on his 4Runner. I'm wondering if anyone has measured between the two frame beams on a (3rd gen) 4Runner and (3rd gen) Tacoma to see if they are the same. If so, a Tacoma bull bar would fit right on a 4Runner no problem. If no one has done this, maybe we could compare some measurements.

I measured, the rails are the same thickness and the same distance apart. Totally differnet end caps or plates though.
Originally I wanted a Tacoma ARB bar, but then opted for the hoop less bumper.

I wanted a similar style bull bar for my truck as well. I can't justify a arb or tjm right now.
The bar you are looking at will not work due to the fat lip bumper of the '99+ 'Runners. That plastic sticks out too far to permit the taco bull bar. I spoke with the manufacturer who makes them (PP doesn't make anything really) to see if they planned on coming out with a model for our 'Runners but they said they didn't have any plans to do it. I think it was Westin.
Let us know if you find someone to make a simple bull bar for '99+ 4Runners that follows the lines of the truck.
good luck
