rusted through seat mount HELP!!!
as you will see in the picture my 4runner has terrible rust issuse because i live in vermont. recently the entire rear half of my muffler fell off and i took the bumper corners off because they were making rust crack lines in the body.
but my main issue right now that i need to fix is the driver left front seat mount rusted through and is just kind of hanging there. so im not really sure how to go about fixing it i can weld pretty good, but i almost think it would be better to go to a junk yard and cut out the whole seat crossmember and then fix the rust hole in my floor then put in the new crossmember. all i need is advice please...

Nasty. If you can weld, i'd cut out most, if not all, of that floor panel including some of the door sill, from your local junkyards donor vehicle and weld it in. Maybe going and sanding, grinding a bit farther into the rust area, and trying to maybe hit bare metal, to hit it with some rust preventative/primer.

hopefully monday im going to the junk yard and looking into it but, thats what i thought about doing with cutting out the whole floor and door sill would make things easier sense it looks like my body mount might fail soon also.

Its going to be tough to do, the body is so thin, and with so much rust its going to be hard to find "good" metal to weld too. I live in Arizona, so I dont even know what rust is, but cutting out and replacing more is going to be a better fix then patching what is badly rusted around the crossmember.

yea i went to the junk yard today they had two runners there that were good canidates, one was even the same color as mine, i could also get the driver side rear fender/quarter panel area where the air vent is because its a gapeing rust hole on mine. i was lookin for shift knobs today too and i cut my finger open on a windsheild, it was deeper then i would have liked and more painful aswell.

this is always a hard call to make without being up close and in person.
Are the cab mounts still solid enough ??
the ones you found in the yard are better than yours ?
I am in the process of putting cab mounts and a floor in my 87 4runner
I am making my new floor from scratch the ones I have seen down here in yards are just as bad if not worse.
Take your time and figure out just what you need before you start.

the problem im having now is whether to fix all the rust which includes frame rust and keep my runner or fix the noticible rust problems then sell it for around 3 to 4 grand and buy a newer 4runner with a v6 and a 5 speed like a 01 or 02
