Rs 3000

Hello y'all!

There's a RS 3000 Alarm unit (new) being sold on the internet. It's advertised as for Tundra & Tacoma. But will it work with a 3rd Gen 4Runner?

And how difficult will installation be for a handy novice (me)? I downloaded the manuals and the installation looks pretty involved.

Thanks, Rob

Don't know if I can help you but I've noticed that there is little difference between the newer Tacomas (2001 and on) and the late 3rd gen Runners.

Someone tell me if I'm wrong?

I've been able to do a few mods and maintenance using the runner write ups here.

The RS3000 was the stock alarm system in my 96 Limited, so "yes", it will work on a 3rd gen.

Install wise, I _think_ I've read that the wiring harness is already pre-installed in the vehicles. Hopefully someone else can confirm that. The main control box sits under the driver's seat. Grab a flashlight and take a peek to see if you can see a loose connector. If so, it may be real easy to install. You'll have to remove the driver's seat, but that's just 4 bolts.

Rob,

You can do it, man. It'll probably be a pain running the wires, but most if not all of it is plug and play.
