RPM help? after changing o2 sensor

My check engine light came on last week giving code for the oxygen sensor bank 1 sensor 1. My truck has 235,000 miles on it so Monday I got a toyota oxygen sensor from the dealer installed it along with new spark plugs, rotor button and a new distributor cap and air cleaner. I unhooked the battey, hooked it back up for awhile then started the vehicle. It ran fine for awhile however now it idles at 1000 RPM instead of the 650-700 it used to. I unhooked the battery again and it ran fine for about 4 hours then went back to ideling at 1000 RPM again. Any ideals why has the RPM changed ? Its funny that after unhooking the battery it idels at 650 for several hours then all of a sudden it starts going to 1000-1100RPM.

It would help to know what engine you are talking about. But since you posted in this section and the 3.4 doesn't have a dist cap/rotor, I am guessing you are talking about the 2.7, correct?

Check all the connections, hoses, etc. again.
