Rotor Problems

Now that I found out what is causing my steering wheel to shake under hard braking I want to fix the problem ASAP. My front rotors are probably warped. My rear brakes look like they barely do any work causing my front wheels to get all the brake dust. How can I adjust the rear brakes? Does reversing out of your drive way while the parking brake is on help? Someone from another forum told me that.

Also where is the best place to buy front rotors and rear drums? Taylor Automotive looks like a great place to buy from. Anyone know better places?

If I recall correctly, if you open up the drums on your rear brakes there is a little cylinder shaped about 1" long or so little "dial." The Dial is horizontal if I recall correctly and you turn it one way to tighten and the other way to loosen it. I think you have to pull something off of it momentarily to move/adjust it. It looks like a long or "thick" mini-gear sort of. The way to tell if you've done it properly is your E-brake should tighten up. Your truck also shouldn't dive so much when you brake and it shouldn't need to "sit" so far when you finally do come to a complete stop.

Are you a hard braker by the way?

w/o taking the rear apart i think you can put it in reverse and use the the parking brake lever about "1000 times" to adjust. i dont think just reversing works on newer cars/trucks.
