roof racks

Anybody have some recommendations for a good roof rack for a 98 Runner? I have no factory rack, just the plastic covers over where the rails would be. I like the KargoMaster, but don't particularly want to put holes in my roof just yet?

You could always go with a gutter mount Thule or Yakima. Check out their sites for more info. I have a factory rack and a Thule, and the Thule is way stronger.

I've been watching ebay for a good deal on a gutter mount Thule. I had a Thule on my Camry for my mountain bike it was strong enough to sit on

I like my Wilderness Rack, better than the Surco's. While the aluminum is lighter weight (Surco), the Wilderness rack is steel and stout. I've had over 200lbs of gear in it. Great brackets and accessories, a little pricey though.

Go with the Surco rack...I got mine used from waskillywabbit and then I ordered a spare tire bracket and I'm gonna fab up some toolbox brackets in my welding class at school. I love the Surco!!
