Roof Rack Lighting???
Hey I know alot of you guys run off road lighting in one way or another. I would really like to get some Hella Black Migic lights but I am looking towards the Hella 500's that Corey runs on his rig.
Here is my question, can I just mount the lights to my roof rack in some way without having to buy a safari rack or some kind of light bar. If there is no way, then can someone recomend an economical way to get a set of 4 lights mounted to my roof.
Thanks in advance .

500s kick booty
If you want to mount them without a basket rack like I run, I have an idea.
All you need is one crossbar, and two Q Towers like you see holding the crossbars over my doors.

You could then get the Yakima Snap Arounds.
Snap it around your crossbar, and then put your Hella bolt through the Snap Around, then tighten the bolt, then it will tighten it to the crossbar.
A guy from ODW's forum has a write-up here on how he used some Radio Shack antenna mounts to mount his lights to the same rack I have.
I don't agree at all though about his comments about the 500s.
I have had mine now for a few years, and they put out gobs of light.
You could also use these antenna mounts right on the crossbars, and they would be stronger perhaps than the plastic Yakima Snap Arounds.
This way you have dedicated bolts for tightening the mount to the crossbar, and a separate bolt for your lamps.
I'd go the latter way for extra strength.

They are $10 each at Radio Shack.
Just unscrew the antenna part in the pic, and it's the same mount Sport used to mount his lights.

Austin, here is an old post by me with 3 videos explaining how I did it.

The vids are talking pics, and not movies.
They may not play if you click on them all the way.
Better to right click and save them first.
