ROCKCRAWLER STREETLOCK....Question?
Does anyone have these steelies in a 16" x 8" format on a 3rd generation 4Runner (2001-2002 w/16" OEM wheels)
Do these wheels fit properly (clear the calipers?) without having to grind anything?

any 16x8 rim with a lug pattern of 6 on 5.5 and 4"-4.5" Backspacing will fit a 3rd gen with no rubbing issues. also make sure the rims is hubcentric not lugcentric. with a center bore of 4.25". if all those numbers match up then your good to go. good luck

they are available as 16x8 - 6 on 5.5 Bolt Pattern 4.25" B.S. (they don't fit Toyota Tacomas?)
does not say whether they are hubcentric or lugcentric ?...whats the deal with that anyways?..why would you want them hubcentric? (curious)
thanks for the reply.

[QUOTE=marko3xl3]I always heard 3rd gen 4Runners have LUGcentric and NOT HUBcententric rims...see here:
I don't want to challenge gadgets site on info or anything, but I am speaking from personal experience. the rims on my 3rd gen are HUBcentric. how do i know? because the the first set they sent me were LUGcentric and wouldn't fit my rig for the life of me so was the 2nd set!. PRO comp themselves verified that 3rd gen 4runners have a HUBcentric center big bore of 4.25"...the LUGcentric wheels had a center bore of 3.5". if you want, order some lugcentric wheels and tell me if they fit.

Hey Badlnds,
I just saw on www.wheelersoffroad.com that they now make the streetlocks in 2 different 15" sizes that fit the Tacos and the 4Runners(I assume).Check it out.

I know what u r sayin but these are 15's that are made to clear the calipers, such as on my Taco.I ran the 15" black steelies and had no probs. As a matter of fact they are the wheels on my truck in my Avatar. But I understand because then you have to buy 15" tires also. But then you have more selections in that size.

He himself told me our 3rd gens had problems with normal balancers since it is LUGcentric and not HUBcentric like most normal wheels were.
Stock 3rd gen wheels are LUGcentric, thats why they aquire the "shank" lugs to center. After market wheels are HUBcentric which aquire "acorn" lugs. if you look at your center bore and see that it sticks out .5" that is what the wheel rests on. and that is why it is HUBcentric. we are talking about aftermarket reproduction wheels "Rockcrawler Streetlocks". NOT STOCK 3rd GEN WHEELS.

that should help with the balancing!...good one SC4Runner.
I am ordering from California...and shipping to Montreal, Canada (extreme opposites) I really, really, really want to make sure they fit so I only have to pay for the shipping costs ONCE!
but if worse come to worse..I'll take your suggestion into consideration.

QUICK BEFORE YOU ORDER!!!
i have these 16x8 streetlocks on my 99...definately love the looks, but if you EVER get muddy, they are a complettttttttttttttttte PITA to clean. the lip ("streetlock") just keeps the water sitting at the bottom (after cleaning them, the water just sits...you have to dry it off with a towel).
but if youre keeping it on the streets, get em. look great, and ive had no fitment issues.

thanks northfacer581...no i will be taking them to the trails. (Thats why i am selling my AXIS alloy mags and want steelies...cheaper to replace if i break 'em).
I had the same issue with the AXIS streetlocks (but i could remove bolts and the rings to clean)...do yours work the same way?
AT least i know fitment is not a problem....thanks!

If your gonna off road, stick with regular steelies...cheaper, way lighter, and less likey to catch rock rash on one of those protruding bolts.
