Right or wrong way to install MAF?

There is no right or wrong way to install an MAF sensor is there? My engine check light came on and my mechanic let me know that it was the air mass sensor that needs to be replaced. Thing is he wants to charge me 220 for the parts and labor, but I know theres not much to labor or atleast I think theres not much to labor. Its just screws and a wire harness right? I'm trying to look for a used MAF that someone replaced for with a Supra MAF but so far no luck yet. I just know that 220 is alot more than I should pay.

I've worked with mine before and know its not hard. I'm just afraid that if I get dust or something on it, it would break the MAF again. The first time I think it got damaged by the silicone I used on my deck plate mod? I'm not really sure because I removed that the day I put it on and it took it 3 months before the check engine light came on?

Dude, it's like a 2 minute job. Unplug the wiring harness, unscrew a clamp, unbolt the box, remove old MAF, insert new MAF and repeat in reverse.

Don't worry about getting dust or anything in it, I put a cone filter on mine with an adapter I got off of ebay, and I had to use wd-40 (only thing I had within grabbing distance) to coax a rubber section on to clamp the filter, and I know dust, plastic shavings, and wd-40 got in it, and I think I might have even sneezed in it. I just lightly shook it out and My truck runs great. The cone filter is pimp, too.

Nevermind, you have a 99. I have a 91. Probably a bit different.

Piece of cake on a 99+.....will take you 5 minutes to undo the 2 screws and connector.
Just pop the new one in and away you go.

Don't forget to undo the negative on the battery cable to reset your computer.
