Revised cargo box
More an more, my 4Runner resembles a pack-mule than a SUV. I love it!
Last month, I added onto my cargo box. Here's a before picture:
I replaced the stained pine on top with a sheet of MDF and made 2 cargo cubbies. Here's the passenger side:
And the driver side:
And here it is painted to match the interior:
The unhinged portion on the passenger side is reserved for a 10" Infinity sub. The cubbies are shaped to accomodate the seat in its upright position. Since taking these pictures, I've added a couple clips to hold a large shovel on the driver's side and a Hi-Lift on the passenger's side. The cubby on the passenger's side easily accomodates a 2.5 gallon container of water and a couple Coleman propan cylinders. The cubby on the driver's side will hold two sleeping bags, coats, and recovery gear. The main cabinet will hold my tent (unless I decide to sleep in the back of my truck), camp stove, a week's worth of food, more propane, and a few other odds 'n ends.

How many cans of emergency air freshener will the cubbies hold? Your dates might find that info handy to have!

Thank you, all, for the compliments.
THe MDF added more "heft" than I originally anticipated. So much so that I lost 1/2" of lift on the rear. I'm looking at ways of compensating for that. I have a set of airbags from my '92 I might use. I might also go with spacers or HD coils.
