This is where my 4Runner ended up after a Roger Brown 2" body lift. I installed SAWs up front and OME891s at the rear over the past 2 weeks. Also got a Revtek diff drop kit.

I thought I wasn't going to be able to clear my 305/75R16 Xtrerrains on AE 146s. Slight rubbing at full turn. Overall, I am extremely happy. Thanks to Roger Brown and Mike at Xtreme!

Wow it looks pretty mean, I like it. So how high are your SAW's set to clear the 305's? Those rims have 4.5" backspacing am I right? Also when you say you rub, where do you rub?

If I'm not mistaken, you are running 34"x12" on 16 rims, right? That's the biggest that I've heard anyone running a 4Runner. I would love to know your exact setup your running, such as where you have your SAW's set and how much lift it gave in front, and what was involved with the 2" body lift, etc.

Where can I see pictures, and how much off-roading does he do. I don't want rubbing, and from what I understand it's possible with 285/75R16's and that's about it. I'd love to be able to run bigger ones, but I haven't heard of many folks doing it successfully.

from what i know, he rubs a lot off-road. guys with same lift run 33s and rub too, its the width not the height.

I drove Ace's 4Runner for a day. The Downey coilovers are kinda soft, the Douch Tech rear shocks I constantly bottomed out, Never rubbed but that thing is really tippy.


FIrst time I wheeled with a sun roof. I really liked that. Also no clutch and the slush box was kinda weird.

It sounds like you go off-roading quite a bit. I wish my wife would let me go more often, but it's my only vehicle, so I guess I can understand somewhat. What size tires and lift setup are you running?

Sorry, my tires are actually 305/70R16 which translates to a 32.8" tall and 12" wide. The wheels are 4.5" backspacing. They rub only slightly at the rear on the frame when wheel is turned to lock. I have yet to take it offroad with this setup. We'll see how much it will rub offroad. Thanks guys.

I wonder if a wheel with 4" of backspacing would prevent the rear of the tire to rub on the frame? Have you tried to simulate a RTI so you can see if they rub even worse when a wheel is stuffed into the wheelwell? I'm interested to see if they would rub worse then, especially if while it's jammed up into the wheelwell you turn the wheel lock to lock, and see if it's any worse. Let us know if you have the chance!

This may be one of those dumb questions, but I'll ask it anyway. Aren't there wheel spacers out there. I saw a 3" one not too long ago. If you need to get your wheels out further for off-road, seems like this might be a good way to do it? Maybe you all use these already?

I was going to put the 305/70's on my runner until I did some rude calculations and measuring and figured they would rub. Basically the 305/70 and the 285/75 are the same height but the 305 is ~12.5 wide and the 285 is ~11.5 wide. That's why they rub. That's also why I went with the 285/75r16 (33x11.5) instead. I guess I got carried away but what I meant to say was he could crank the SAW's as far as they would go and would still rub.

could you post more pics of the lift? specifically some of the body mounts and some of the interior like the shift levers and the extensions etc.?

Actually, the 305/70/r16 size tire is ~32.8x12.01 if that's what you're talking about. If not, you won't find any 3rd gen's running anything bigger without a lot of fender trimming, among other things.

What type of rims are those? I'm having trouble finding any type of chrome rims for a reasonable price...
