I am heading out on a road trip tomorrow- having some crappy mileage issues and am going to go ahead with a MAF cleaning tonight. Am i risking anything by resetting the ECU before going on a crappy, cold mountain pass road trip? What i am asking is if there are possibilities of problems by doing so- i want to know.

No,you should be fine. Just do a little driving around town before you go.

Clean the MAF with brake cleaner, pull the negative battery cable for 5 mins, reattach and have a nice trip.

They have MAF cleaner as well that if you have to buy something anyways would be a good idea. Seeing as a new MAF is $$$. Brake cleaner will work fine though, just be careful with the MAF.

I would just pull 20a EFI(fusebox next to the battery) for a couples mins before start it.

There is no reason for that, disconnecting the battery works fine. I have done it many times while i was installing my MSD.

The only reason for the above would be if you didn't want to lose your radio settings and clock.

I would personally pull the battery, that way there is no chance of messing up that fuse or something with it.

I thought pull the fuse is much easier than disconnecting negative battery.

LOL, that it might be but for that few extra seconds i would personally rather know that everything has been cleared out. Plus messing with fuses while 95% time is perfectly fine with these fuses if somethung causes it to blow you can't just get another fuse, those are hard to find.

Just an FYI.....the techs at the Toyota dealer use good old brake cleaner 99% of the time to clean MAFs

Yeah, that is mostly like never gonna happen, anyway lol
