Replacing Valve cover gaskets 3rd gen 4runner 3.4L

Anyone done this job yet? I posted a few days ago in the general section but didn't get much feedback.

I haven't but I am curious as to why you are asking. Are yours leaking and if so how many miles do you have on your rig? Just curious.

I don't think they leak very often so I will be surprised to see many responses from those who have done this.....maybe other than those who perhaps did them when they installed a S/C or installed a low mile used motor.

....what exactly is your quesetion? how to do it?

Mine are leaking at 151k. The reason I'm posting is to get a feel of how difficult the job is and to decide if I want tackle it myself.

I've found from posting here that sometimes all I need to know is that other board members are capable of doing something and that gives me the confidence to take a stab at it.

Give typing "V8 headgasket" into the Search window a shot and see what you come up with, but from my experience with other V8's I'd say not too hard.

If you have changed your own brakes and can do a complete tune up you should have no problem tackling this at all. Like I mentioned, the toughest part is removing the top half of the intake, after that it should be smooth sailing.

Hopefully if anyone has changed them they will post to give you the confidence you are looking for.

yeah, you're right.
Besides, I just got a repair manual and a torque wrench as gifts. Now I have to try it.
