Replacing Mis-matched tires

Replacing Mis-matched tires
I am looking into getting some new tires for my 91, and probaly some steel black wheels too, but am faced with a small deliemma.
The previous owner had 2 "Terra Grip" all season tires on the front, and 2 "roughrider Mud/snow" tires on the back. The rear tires still have a good amount of life left in them, but the front tires are very dead. I have been fairly pleased with the off-road preformance on the roughriders, on-road has been meh, but thats not really the point. My first question is; should I replace all 4, or save some money and just switch out the front 2? Is there a big problem with having mis-matched sets?
Any input is on this is appreicated.
And then my next question is what tires to get. (I am going to search the forums as soon as I finish this, but figured I'd ask anyways) Any reccomendations? I am looking for an aggresive mud tire. I am planning on selling the truck in the fall, so I am not worrying about this tire doubling as a snow tire at all. Also, noise is not an issue. I am young, and I would rather have something look gnarly, than be loud on the highway.
thanks in advance,
Mark

You might want to swap all four, as it will be easier on the transfer case when you go wheeling. As for a tire that looks gnarly, Swampers are where it's at. Get the old stand by TSL and they will do very well off-road and hopefully be OK on-road.

You'd be better off just getting a set of all new tires...sell the two that are in good shape to a tire place and make the investment. It's easier to keep track of rotation's and balancing and easier on the rig itself.

Yeah, besides, 4 of the same tires LOOK better all around and you have an idea of what to expect when driving - you don't have any unpleasent surprises after rotating them.
