is removing the swaybar from the front okay

i lifted my 4runner about 6 months ago, and i have been wondering about how it rides without the sway bar. i have sway-away coilovers in the front. so i took the end links off and test drove it. and it rides beautiful. but there is some sway in the front now, before it was super stiff. has anyone else done this and is it okay to not have the swaybar up front. and yes i did test going 80 on the freeway and it didnt seem too bad

anyone got any ideas on this

I have never run one but my trucks are a little older than yours so it may be different. I would just take it off and see how it feels. If you dont like the ride just put it back on

Many people do this to increase front travel. Downside is a lot more sway when in corners, especially at speed. Some people get sway bar quick disconnects (search here) so they can just let loose when going off road.

I am running neither front or rear swaybars, i sway everywhere. but i keep on breaking end links, so i doubt i'll put one on the front again.

I'd keep them off on the trail & back on for safe highway driving.
swaybar disconnects like squiddy had mentioned is the thing to get.

My friend has them on his tacoma & it seems to work for him.

But you'll notice it when you turn off the freeway...

The links were off when I purchased my truck. Thought it felt a little loose driving through a corner but then again I've been accustom to sporty type cars, so I figured it might be "truck handling". I installed links before a trip to NC and couldn't have been happier- it was a night and day change, both in town and on the highway, especially around hilly/mountian roads.

You can go without 'em but I'm not sure why you would. The disconnects look like the way to go IMO.

I just cut my fronts off because they were too rusty and both end links were broken. I notice the sway on the highway when cornering, but no where else. I was going to leave the rears off after the lift, but my wife rolled our last lifted 4runner so i left them on

I'm also considering removing the fronts and see what not having them feels on the road.. the rears don't seem to have any effect for me.

Wish someone could come up with a real working quick disconnects for a good price though.

Wab Fab sells discos for about $150 shipped for fronts. I would never run with no swaybar on the street especially on the highway since in an situation where you need to make a quick lane change you could end up losing control and crash and IMO that isn't worth the chance especially with my family in the car.

what about excessive droop related to the CV angles? anyone think this might be an issue with cv breakage?

Well, have you noticed any difference since it has snapped? A snapped bar is like a disconnected bar which is like a removed bar.

i ended up taking the front sway bar completely off and have been driving it for awhile i feel a small differance in lean when taking a corner fast but it does not feel dangerous or out of control and i have a 3" suspension lift and 33" tires on my TACO. i actually kind of like the travel i get now.
