Removing the roof rack supports...

Ok, I just bought my 99 4runner. In doing a good cleaning, I found this. Thank's to J's site for pointing this out. Grr...dark spots are left.





After a good cleaning...




And for those days when you must wash in the rain and cold, might I suggest the Schampa hood?

just a word of advice, blurr the plate next time, just a precautionary measure

good job on gettin the stains off tho!

nice runner. whats the point in blurring the plate? i bet hes got some shotguns hes willing to use!

Don't sweat it. Have you ever heard of someones rig (let alone bone stock) getting stolen for showing plates online? That "advice" is purely a misconception and paranoia.

Wife's 4runner, did you just clean those spots or buff/wax them too? Looks good. Take those running boards off next.

As for the plate, no worries...it will not be on there for long. Old plate. As for buffing/waxing, not yet. That is just with soap, water and a terry cloth towel. Buffing and waxing is stage two.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but do you guys still leave these supports on your roof? or have you taken them off?

I just took a look at mine and it looks like they were ruining the roof.

I had the same on mine and I washed it and gave the roof a good waxing and it looks much better. I actually pulled both my rails off and cleaned mine. UG it was dirty!

I pulled the cross bars off my rack. The main reason I did it was to improve the gas mileage (I didn't notice any major difference) by allowing the air to flow over the top of the truck easier. It also makes it easier to clean. I left the front and back bars on there because I like how it looks.

i left mine off too. they go back on in ~5 min if i wanna load the roof up.

x2 And I just added factory roof rack a couple of weeks ago so I don't have any roof damage yet. IMHO, who can see it anyway?
