Wondering if there is a way to do this. I have one good rear window in a totaled 3rd gen 4runner I'm scrapping and I want to remove it hopefully w/o breaking it. It looks almost impossible, all I can think is to heat up the edges of the window and try to pull it off.

If you're talking about the qtr. glass....I've done it on my 2nd gen. I'm not sure if it's the same, but you have to take the inside panel off. The black trim is part of the window and you can take it all out by undoing the nuts on the inside of the vehicle. make sure you get all of them.....there are some up top kinda up in the headliner. A ton of folks tend to break those top ones cause they don't take the time to look for the nuts. hope this helps...

I'm talkin about the very rear sides. I got the ones you are talking about. At first I was tugging on the darn piece and then I saw the little screws oops!

I still haven't figured out the rear most one though. It's glued on like cray. I think I'm just gonna have to break it...

I'm not sure of the ones you're talking about.....you've got the rear doors and the little glass in the rear door. Then the qtr glass....then the rear window. If you're talking about the little one on the rear door then I think once you take all the trim off and the larger glass out it rotates forward to come out.

yeah, the 2nd gen quarter glass unbolts from the inside, but the quarter glass on most vehicles is glued in with urethane and must be cut out, but i havent tried to remove any from a 4runner yet. i have an air compressor powered knife with various blades for different glass. ill try to remember to look at a 3rd gen today at work and tell you for sure how it comes out.

On 3rd gen the quarter glass is glued to the frame(no bolts). The FSM tells to remove panel on inside, use a string(guitar string or something similar), pull it through the window cover all the way to the inside and cut out the sealer, be carefully not to cut the gasket that is covering the window.

yeah, its sealed in with urethane . cutting it out with piano wire( or equalizer glass removal wire) will be difficult without damaging the moulding, but possible. its best to cut it out from the inside with an air knife, but thats not exactly a common tool. there are also hand held manual tools, but trust me, they arent much fun.
