Removing Blower Motor Fan Assembly

I had the blower motor start making funny noises again. I think the blower motor may actually be on its way downtown Anyway, I have been looking at getting a used motor. I took the motor out last night and couldn't get the plastic fan off of the motor spindle. The new motors I have been looking at do not come with the plastic fan. Anyone have any suggestions?

If I get a used one...I guess it will come with it? hmmmmmmmm

The squirrel cage is a total biatch to get off the motor spindle. The only way to get it off is to remove the nut, place it between 2 metal sheets and hammer it off (careful not to break the plastic cage). If your motor is making noise like mine was, then you can service it without removing the squirrel cage at all. Mine works fine now after using some marvel oil to quiet the bearings.

Same problem different cause

Mine was a family of mice. The sound was bad, the smell was worse. Any hints on the custom torx like back screw? I can't seem to get any of the screws on the blower motor assembly to reseat.

I've owned my 4Runner since new and have replaced the blower motor assembly twice with new ones from Toyota. I think I paid around $120 both times.
