Logically should be the same procedure as removing any other 4Runner flare since it's the same body, mounting points, and more than likely same hardware.
May I ask why you want to switch out the pretty ones?

Ryan,
I might be wrong about this, but I think the back flares on the doors have a template behind them that required drilling into the door, so you may have some holes back there if you take those off. Maybe someone else can confirm this

I was wondering about this also. The flares in back are connected to the back door body cladding, how would you replace the flare and keep the cladding? I'm assuming removing the cladding would leave some marks where it's attached. I guess you could remove/cut it carefully but how would that look?
The limited flares are too big, I'm scared to take it through the Jeep Squeeze near here.

fender flares
Ok what we tell the avereage "weekend warrior" that tries to come in and do this is no they won't work. The wholes, snaps, rivets, and whatever else are incorporated are spaced differently. This is not to say it can't be done but it is more trouble than it is worth IMHO.

I talked with my local dealership and they said that there are mudflaps for a 4Runner like on the Taco depending on whether or not you have fender flares or not. I have never seen any that say "4WD" for the rear. Are there any or am I missing something?

Mud Flaps
Ok, for the 4-Runner there are no regular "factory" mudflaps that have 4x4. For the 2000 Taco there is, you have to get the "off road package" ones. From my understanding these can be fashioned to fit the 4-Runner of that year, if not I am sure a hot glue gun will work. LOL
