Has anyone had any experience with the remote oil filter kit that Performance Products sells?

I am thinking about putting one on at the next oil change as the filter is such a pain to get to.

Bob, try a search on remote filters. I recall some recent threads about the PP tending to leak and the recommendation was to buy the unit from Amsoil.

I certainly would be interested myself. I tought my 2nd Gen was a b**ch to replace the filter on. But my 3rd Gen is twice as bad.

I had one on of the Performance Products kits put on my 95 4Runner back when I had my engine rebuilt the first time. It really made oil changes a dream. The bad news is that it ended up costing me close to $9,000.00 in engine rebuilds in like 5 months. One of the oil lines came off of the fitting at the block & it blew all of the oil out which cooked the new engine. I have just had it rebuilt & this time plan on having lines made that will screw into the adaptor plates rather than relying on hose clamps.

I have heard that toyota oil filters keep oil on the top of the filter so that there is oil when you start, eliminating hard start up on your engine. The relocation kit on the other had doesn't. I would say that there is simply more stuff to go wrong with the clamps and hoses. (see above). If ot's for a 2nd gen, the filter isn't too hard to get to. Just take off the skid plate and get a friend who has small hands.

I've had the PP setup for about 5 years and you do have to watch the clamps. I meant to make some lines with -AN fitting but never got areound to it. I've got the Amsoil duel remote setup waiting to go in now....

I had a remote filter set up on my Blazer and the lines had compression fittings rather than a hose clamp. If I go that route I may have some lines made up that way. I also installed a remots oil filter kit on my boat that I got from JEGS and that also had compression fittings. I have never had a leak with that either.
