Hey everybody, i am currently looking to re-gear my 4runner, and i need a little bit of help figuring it all out. Ive looked around and tried to figure it out before asking for help but, i was unsuccessful. Any information is greatly appreciated.

My rig: 2002 4Runner Sport 4x4 3.4L V6

I already bought an ARB RD132 for the rear and while im in there im going to put new gears in, 4.88s. The front is what im struggling with.

I know its IFS but ive read its High Pinion, 7.5" reverse, and 8" std. Could somebody please clear up what my front differential is. Also where is a good place to buy the ring and pinion and solid spacers. I have only found one site with both front and rear, www.marlincrawler.com, they sell Yukon which to my understanding would be a good choice. If there is something better or recommended let me know.

Last thing, does anybody live around Baltimore or Greensboro North Carolina, and know of a good shop to take this to get installed, i could do it myself but couldnt set the carrier bearing pre-load correctly. I talked to ZUK and thats probably where im going to send my rear, but if i dont have to ship it across country that would be great. Im putting 33" tires on as well.

Your front axle is a 7.5" reverse cut gear

Try East Coast Gear Supply (in Durham, NC) as they stock Precision gears (I am running 4.88 Precision Gears right now and had them set up my diffs)

you had the guys in durham do both the front and back? what did they charge?

Pull your own diffs when you take them in, it will be cheaper that way....

Around me, gear install labor is 75 bucks. You have 7.5 rev front and v6 rear

I wouldn't be able to give you an accurate #, as they did some other work as well, plus the cost of an ARB RD90 and Air Compressor. I think the gears/locker/install/compressor would have been around $2350 or $2450 w/tax

thats pretty reasonably priced, for the locker, compressor, two sets of gears and install. they probably wouldnt be to bad if i bought two sets of gears and took the differentials out and then into their store. id guess about 600-750. ill keep them in mind. im not actually in the states right now, im just trying to get this gear problem figured out before i get back.

They had the cheapest prices on gears/ install kits I could find anywhere, plus Precision are one of the top gear manufacturers in my opinion

I have an 01 with arb lockers and 4.88's.
Go to Zuk. Heck I live in the same city as him, but because he only does the rear I went somewhere else and paid dearly.
After they screwed the gears up twice, I bought the solid collar from marlin and took my precision gears to Zuk to set up.
They've been perfect ever since.

Everyone told me to go to him and I just didn't listen.

Whatever you do, price is not worth haggling over on gears. They are just too important and too many places don't REALLY know how to set them up.
