regear with stock factory locker ?

Nope. It just takes a different gear set than a factory open diff. You also have to disconnect the plumbing to the locker to remove the third, otherwise it's the same.

The Tacoma axle with the TRD locker uses a different gear set than the Tacoma axle without the locker.

I see. What you are saying is use 8" gears instead of 8.4. Got it. I read it to mean that they needed some sort of custom 8" gears. Now the real important thing (I think) is use V6 gears and not 4cyl gears and use a solid spacer instead of a crush sleeve.
