"In 2001, the evolution of the 4Runner into the modern SUV age meant it lost its SR5 four-cylinder models"
I've gotta say, I've never seen of (or heard of) an SR5 w/the V6... My impression was that the V6 was standard in the SR5. I know 4WD was standard, and the AUTO was optional...
"The 4Runner of 2003 -- the last year of the third-generation models"
Uh, correct me if I'm wrong... I don't think my trust in this reporter is as blind as when I started reading.

"In 2001, the evolution of the 4Runner into the modern SUV age meant it lost its SR5 four-cylinder models and manual transmissions, and all models now had full-time four-wheel drive and an anti-skid/traction control system." did the 3rd gen get a full-time 4wd transfer case? I've always thought that it was only part-time 4wd but had the multi-mode 4wd option.
