Does anyone know about how much a rebuit 4cyl for a 89 4runner would be, mine has over 300,000 miles on it and I would like to have a motor to replace it with when this one goes out if and when it does.

I am in the process of rebuilding a 22re, just need to assemble everything. It already had a new head so the price I paid is just for the block work. It costed 700$ total for a local machine shop to do their work, bore, acid bath, new pistons, master rebuild hit, resurface rocker arms, deck head and block, blah blah blah. I also bought a performance cam for 125$ so add that too it. The machine shop is not assembling the engine I am so that cuts down on cost as well. I would go with www.engnbldr.com he has great quality as good prices. Don't forget to replace those timing chain guides with steel backed.

I really just want to buy a motor not to rebuild it but i want a good rebuilt mortor if i had the time to rebuild the motor in mine i would but i need it for school to drive when i get done with my vw and it is still running i will rebuild it. i realy would like to have a motor on standby if this one just quits sometime.
