rear wiper

It isn't a problem solely for 3rd Gen Runners. My '85 did the same thing. Fixing it involved grinding off the rivethead, then taking the whole thing apart. Once apart, I cleaned off all rust and debris then lubed everything with anti-seize and reassembled. I was able to use a #8×1" stainless steel machine screw with a stainless nylock nut to hold it all together. You may be able to use a steel pop-rivet instead, just don't tighten it all the way or your problem will be right back.

Did anybody ever find the fix for this? About 4 inches of my rear window does not get wiped when I use the rear wiper.
I've searched all the threads and haven't seem to come up with a solid answer.

Holy old thread.
Relevant though. My rear wiper sucks too. Sucked on the 87 4runner I had before too.
I've tried lubing everything up, bending the arm, bending the wiper blade itself. Nothing really helps. It's just a crappy design. I use RainX on the glass and that helps but it's not great.

haha, dang 2004! I agree. Mine works fine sometimes and other times it misses. I just say the heck with it. I never use it all that much to be honest. The rear wiper on my old jeep I had was broken so I'm use to not having one
