rear spring replacement on 1st gen quetions!

Hi guys, my Downeys came this afternoon and I have a few questions before I rip out the stock springs. What should I tourque the U bolts to and the shackle bolts? I dont want to over tighten or break a bolt! Also is there any thing you can think of that I will need for the install before I get started, I hate to have to run to the parts store or worse the stealer or even worse have to order parts after starting an install! I am reusing everything stock but the springs and what ever else Downey sends you with them, so any input would be great! Thanks again, Matt

I don't know what the torque specs are, but here is some other info that may help.

Don't over tighten the shackle bolts; it will keep them from pivoting freely. Get them snug with everything installed, and drop the truck down its wheels. Then double check that they are tight enough.

You're likely to have some problems getting the bolts out of the old springs on the frame mounted ends. The sleeves inside are probably bonded to the bushings. Good luck, especially on the passenger side near the gas tank.

If your U bolts are in good condition then reuse them. If they are anything like mine were (really rusty, etc.), you should get some new ones.

Be sure to post pics when you're done.

U-bolt torque: 90ft-lbs
Front hanger pin nut: 67ft-lbs
Shackles torque: 67ft-lbs

Shackle torque spec applies only to stock shackles. Aftermarket shackle bolts usually are not shouldered like the factory ones and can easily be overtorqued.
