Rear End Tacoma?

Hey what kind of rear end do the 99 Tacoma's have? Dana 44? Or am I way off? Just curious...

Dana is domestic. Tacoma's have a Toyota 8" or 8.4" rear diff, for TRD and non-trd, respectively.

I looks like in his profile that he has the TRD package so his rear axle would be the 8" correct?
Thanks

That is correct. A TRD rear end would take the gears listed here; http://www.precisiongear.com/toy8v6.htm

And a non-TRD rear end would take these; http://www.precisiongear.com/toyta8.htm

The ring gear on the non-TRD is 1 cm or .39" larger.

Thanks guys that helps a ton, didn't know dana was strictly domestic either. Still learning I guess . What's the difference between an 8" and an 8.4" rear?

Apparently the difference is .39".

There are alot more gear and locker options for the 8" (just speculating since the 8" has been around since the dawn of mankind)

I prefer the 8" just because it has ANY locker option you want. The 8.4 is pretty new. And the D44 is not strictly domestic. The Titan has a D44 variant in the rear.
