rear drum brake adjustments

I just changed my rear brake shoes. My one question is after i bleed the brakes I had very little peddle, it went to the floor. I beleive thats because the wheel cylinders and shoes were not adjust all the way out. I worked the parking brake several times because I thought it would extend that adjuster screw, it worked but is that the correct way or is there another way. thanks

if you didn't disconnect the line during the change you didn't need to bleed them. you may have to bleed them again, there's air in the line.

How far out did you adjust the rear brakes with adjusters after the install? They should be run out until the drum starts to drag, then backed off until they stop dragging.
I believe the adjusters will only advance the pads when the vehicles is in reverse and the brakes applied and even then only if the adjusters are working well. Since most adjusters wind up full of junk and/or rusted they usually don't work well or much at all unless you really cleaned them up when you did the pads.

Manually adjust the rear brakes before you kill yourself.

the adjuster works when using the brakes in reverse. i'd manually adjust them first, but to fine tune it, just apply the brakes a couple of times while going backwards.

I always adjust mine with the parking brake and then I check them to get it close, then I do the reverse thing.
