Well i was thinking of putting some Disc brakes on the back of my runner. I happened to come across a nice set of roters and 4 piston calipers but am kinda wonderying it's even worth it becuase of the little Break bias thing i've read about under the truck.

The roters and calipers i was offered are also bigger then my front breaks. would it be possible to maybe switch the fronts to the back, ditching the drum breaks, then putting the bigger discs on the front?

This is not an easy question to answer so you should search. From what I've read, you will need a rotor that has an included e-brake such as one from a Cadillac. If you don't need the e-brake, there are kits by Downey.

As far as what you received from a friend, more details would probably help.

yea sorry, forgot to add in details about the break kit

i wana say it's a wilwood, but i am not 100% positive... I believbe they where... 11-12" rotors. And then 4 piston calipers.

Basicly, my friends dad bought a brake kit for his truck, but ended up not wanting them, i just stopped by his house and took a look at them. They are supposed to be for the rear end of a Chevy 1500... but i was thinking i might be able to tinker with them a lil and if need be, make myself a bracket to get them to work on the runner... i just hate working w/ brakes...

If you have alot of spare time and money on your hands or are particularly good at fabrication then go for it.....otherwise I would absoultely stay clear. I, like many others have looked at this and come to the conclusion it is not worth doing on a 3rd gen 4runner since the performance gains will be minimal at best. We'd all like to have rear discs but it just isn't worth the effort. Do a search for rear disc and you'll get plenty of reading.
