Re-use OE hoses w/ trans cooler?

New member here w/ a new to me 1999 Ltd 4runner w/ 140k stock. After doing a lot of reading, searching and researching I am slowing trying to do all of the "new to me" maintainance.

I've changed out plugs, fuel filter, oil change, cleaned TB and MAF, etc.

The 4R runs great, but I am going to go ahead and do the Tranny cooler bypass. I have purchased the B&M 70264 and feel that this should more than meet my needs. I live in MD and the 4R will be used primarily as a family (just had a baby) vehicle w/ maybe the occasional towing.

My question is (and I'm sure I'll get flamed for taking the lazy way out):
Is it neccessary to remove the old transmission cooler lines and run new ones to the cooler? Or can I just disconnect the existing hoses, add a hose barb and add what ever lentgh of hose is required to hook up to the new cooler?

Obviously changing the hoses out completely will be better in the long run. I've looked at my 4R and read various write ups on the subject and it seems simple enough (remove skid plate/grill, disconnect/remove old hoses, mount cooler, connect/run new hoses, reinstall skidplate/grill).

I'm just looking for a quick temp fix (paranoid about milkshake) until I can do things right in a couple of weeks. Something that can make a 1-2 hr job a 30min job. I'm thinking I can just disconnect the old lines from the rad, attach new cooler w/ supplied zip ties, using hose barbs splice in new hose and connect to cooler.

Thoughts?
Thanks

You really should loosen the rad and lean it back so you can run the zip ties just through the cooler and the a/c condenser. That way you're not pulling the rad and condenser toward each other.

You could leave the 14 year old hoses on there and add union barbs and go from there but really it only adds about 15-20 minutes to cut the old hoses off and put the new on. Up to you though.. oh and I love the remark about "do things right in a couple weeks".. haha you mean 5 years right?
