Re-Oiled Amsoil Filter and Check Engine Light Came on Today
I cleaned and re-oiled my Amsoil air filter Tuesday and everything has been fine until this morning. I was on the way to work this morning and the "Check Engine", "Trac Off", and "VSC Trac" lights came on. It is not running rough or anything, but these lights scare me. A friend of mine at work had the same three lights come on in his Sequoia. He took it to the dealership and it turned out to be bad gas (water in the gas and solid particles). He had to have the tank drained, fuel filter changed, and new plugs installed. Do ya'll think this problem is related to gas (I filled up Tuesday night also) or is it the oil in the Amsoil filter? Thanks guys. Later.

Check your MAF and see if it is covered in the air filter oil.
I have noticed that gas lately is making my truck ping more than normal, anyone else notice this??

Does anyone have a writeup on how to pull the MAF sensor? Is it necessary to remove the airbox to get to it? I was thinking it might be easier to just spray some contact cleaner on it without removing it.

Matt,
I've cleaned my amsoil 5 times since I've had it in both my 99 and 98 and I've never had those lights turn on. Could be the MAF covered in oil as others have said. Did you squeeze out all the oil? http://www.4runners.org/articles/amsoil

Got it taken care of guys. I went by the dealership yesterday so that they could hook up the diagnostic computer and see what codes it spit out. It said that there was a small vacuum leak. Turns out the small vacuum hose that is tied into the air box had wiggled loose a little bit. We tightened the hose clamp and the code cleared. Limbaugh Toyota here in B'ham has by far the best service department I have ever dealt with. They are great!! Jeff Johnson is the manager and always takes care of me when I come in. They didn't charge me anything to diagnose and fix the problem.
