Question ran through a puddle-now the Batterylight comes on..

Hey gang..
Just wondering... I had some water splash up(more than normal) went to eat, then noticed the batt light on/off. about 1 hr later same thing.. only this time at Lower rpm's (traffic lights) then i decided to go home because i did not want to get stuck. highway speeds the light was again flickering along with the head, tail lights all doing the same thing. I have a appt at the dealership for another issue.. what do you think they will find wrong with the charging system?.. if this was the OLDER days i'd wait for everything to dry out.. I fear this might be more than drying a few wires.. i felt the battery it did not feel hot.. regulator? Alternator? maybe it IS just a dry out?

giguchan~ Well water has a funny way of missing with your stuff! Shorts and things like that . My guess is it needs to dry out. Worst case is your alternator going bad. Take it buy a parts house that will check out your chargeing system for free, and they can tell you if it got the alternator or whatever else it might be.

Hey Broomie,
thats what i figured. I have an appt at the dealership for an other issue , So while i am there i will ask them to go over the charging circuit. i started it up this morning and no red light. I want to go jet skiing today- but i dont want to get stuck..
I'm going to let it run and try to load it down and see if i can make the light come on.
in the driveway... if i cannot make the light come on.. I'm going to drive it around.. and if that works.. i'm going to go skiing.
More on this when i get back...
thanks for the tip.

I wish i was going on a lake... I was on the LI sound... it was actually we hade yesterday 75-80 i think. The water was refreshing.. I would have replied sooner but the notification did not tell me you left this message. dropped off my truck today and yes. it was the alternator... on the other forum it was mentioned to me about a high output model.. I do have aftermarkt lights and 2 amps i never thought of it. well anyhow for the stock unit$280 and 2 install it is another 2hrs at NY prices.. so i might be out under$500..then if i have any money left over i'll get the tranny flushed and filled.. it's never been done.
thanks for the replies..

Bad dealership! BAD, BAD!! LOL I hate there prices.. They like to stick it to you nomatter what state your in. If you where down here I would have done that kind of work for about $40. I work on Toyotas on the side, it's a hobby.
