Quick question about the extended Brake line.

Quick question about the extended Brake line.

Hi guy,

I think I found a 4WD to replace my 2WD. Every thing I want except the color of interior which I can live with. My question is can I remove my Extended brake line and put it on the new rig or will it most like get screwed up in the process. I remember my factory line connection getttnig screwed up trying to remove it. Also could I just leave it and put my Downeys on the new rig without the extention. FYI...I probably will through 1"spacers on it or a 1" body lift for added height. Also how do you think the dealer will repond if I want to swapped all my stuff. I was thinking of trading my rig in for his, but swap my stuff. They probably won't work with me huh. Anyway...thanks

What kind of rig are we talking about here? A pickup or 4runner? What year? I'm assuming you mean 2nd or 3rd gen 4runner because you said spacers. I don't see why you couldn't swap everything back.

If you're talking about a 2nd gen 4runner, and you have stock length shocks, then I think you should be alright with the stock brake line. I just recently added a second stock brake line to lengthen mine, but only because I plan on getting longer shocks sooner or later. When I added the second brake line I didn't have any trouble taking off one side of the stock brake line.

But if you want to play it safe then you should get a longer brake line.

Sorry about that....I swear I just forget that people drive anything other than a 2nd Gen 4Runner. Yep, I currently have the Edelbrocks and Downeys, and I replaced my brake line with the braided line they include with the Downeys. I didn't plan on getting into my 4runner like I have. I thought I'd just buy another 2wd 4runner and drive it to and from work. Then I found this place browsing around and now I want 4wd, lifts, sliders, bumpers, wheels, tires, CB's, etc. I blame all of you BTW. Well with that I started searching around for a 4wd and I found one, basically just like mine just grey interior instead of tan. 4WD!!! So I was wondering if I should try to swap the break line, because I'm going to swap everything else if everything works out and I buy this 4wd. I've been thinking about 1" spacers too, because I want just a little more lift. The only problem is trying to sell mine now. I would like to trade it and be done, but I doubt the dealership will swap all the parts. So I'll have to buy it swap parts then sell mine. Why didn't I buy a 4WD to begin with! Anyway thanks for your input. I appreciate it.

I don't see why you wouldn't be able to swap the brake line. This time invest in some flare wrenches so you don't round anything. I used regular open end wrenches and didn't harm anything but I am very patient and don't mind spending an hour looking at a problem before I try wrenching. I kept my old rubber line just in case I decide to go with 37's and an SAS someday.
