Quick Poll: Your Feelings on a Used Steering Rack
Well, my steering rack in my 4runner is TOAST... I've had a death shimmy for a few thousand miles, but it has really come to its death. The rack leaks fluid and both the inner and outer tie rods are completely shot. The wear and tear on my left front tire has been greatly exaggerated in the past week and a half, and has gotten to the point that if I don't replace my steering components, my tire will be completely gone in another week and a half.
I drive 130+ miles a day, and my vehicle is my job, so I cannot afford to just park it and do without. I make very little money, so this is a budget repair to the max. But that being said, I don't want to have to pay twice to fix one problem, so I was seeking some advice.
Please, leave any comments and suggestions, as this would be greatly appreciated. If you have any logic behind your opinion, I would love to hear that as well. Thanks guys! And yes, I understand, I will need an alignment haha.

I would go used, put it in your self. and get alignment. put some polyurethane bushings while your there and keep an eye on it. heck mine are probably original just about like everything else I seem to keep finding. tie rods are about 70 a piece. money is tight right now. another option, is put some polyurethane tie rod caps on. mine was replaced by a shop with rubber caps, i took one look at them - not on level. heck 2 weeks they were chewed up. still driving on them. summit racing has them, 2 differnt sizes. thats what I was going to do for now, didn't want to spend the140 on tie rod ends.

I'm not sure but if you find that a 2000 Tacoma rack will work for you I have one with 50k on it I can deal on and I am in Maryland so shipping or if you can drive down won't be to bad.
