questions with running 4 lights on roof rack
yo guys-
currently, i have a rack with two hella 500s running up top there, much like coreys set up. anyways, im wanting to put another set so i have 4 up there all together. my question is, could i , in some way, tap in to the power and ground cables going to my lights that are allready up there and have the new lights work off the same stuff? (relay, wires, switch, etc)??

Yep, it will work as long as you leave the stock 55 w bulbs in them.
There is a post by me and a few others on this, and we have the fomula in the post to figure out watts/amps and all that, and it's safe to run it on a 30 amp relay like you & I have.
With the Search being not fully functional until we rebuild it, I can not find the posts for you.

make sure the wires don't get hot. If they do than upgrade the wire and get a bigger fuse. I run six 55w Hella lights on a 12guage wire with a large 40 amp fuse.

The long and short of it is this:
Watts = volts × amps or amps = watts ÷ volts
Thus, 55w = 4.58 amps
4 such lamps would draw 18.33 amps, well under the relays rating of 30 amps
If they were upgraded to 100w, you'd need two relays as the total current draw would be 33.33 amps
Personally, I would put no more than two lights on one fuse but that's just me I guess.

I hard wire all my light to my battery. I ground the lights to my roof rack and ran the power and spliced a switch in. It runs all six of my light fine w/o over heating the 12 guage wire. I did however upgrade the fuse and holder to a large 40 amp blade fuse and a holder for a amplifier.
