Hi Carlos, Welcome to the forum.

Whats going on w/ your 22re that you think you might need a rebuild???
What symptons are you having?

Alot of times you may not need a complete tear down and rebuild... it may just be a specific engine component giving you trouble.

Some things to look for would be excessive blow by, poor compression (unrelated to the head) wich can be determined by a leakdown test, engine knock related to a bad bearing (main, rod or otherwise) and a major loss of power (ussualy head gasket related or faulty circuits and vac leaks).

Like mentioned above, many times a total rebuild isn't really needed.
Give some info on whats happening and what kind of shape your engine is in...
milage, recent events and etc...

Thank's Flecker !
My 22RE have 96.600 miles.
I changed one fuel valve(ignition) last year , and changed the fuel pump.
I always felt my car a little slow , but I think is normal for that kind of car.
So the performance is still the same , except for some noises when open hood:
I can feel(heard) a noise like a "blog" vacuum when I step down the gaz pedal on the neutral gear mode.I noticed this noise this week.(just heard with open hood)
The second noise is a little treble noise that appear when I turn OFF the A/C .
Also you can hear with open Hood. I 'm always using the A/C ON to avoid this noise.
Maybe the A/C Compressor clutch ??
I'm gonna check the compression as you told me...
Thank's for answer !
Carlos.

That "blog" noise is normal.... it's air being sucked through the intake. The A/C might be just the clutch as you pointed out. As for the power aspect, that's pretty much the norm for a atock 22re.... there are things you can do to "pep" it up some. They aren't real fast engines but they are reliable and if tuned right w/ a few upgrades they can be made to perform really well.

...not sure if you know about these or not but you can use whats called a PM (private message) to talk to a person without having to post on the forum...just a thought.

No prob Carlos. Let me know how it turns out!

Fink.... thanks for the heads up, it's still tech related IMO. He didn't know about the PM's and what he asked was tech related so I thought it could slide.

Fink : It's all right ! I understood your point of view. If I want to speak with a specific poster , I can make this without congesting the forum !!!
Even so the subject could have been answered for any one that it wanted to help me !
I'm happy to be here !!! And certainly I will have questions for you too !!
