question about my new 4runner

Hey guys, I just bought a 2000 4runner sr5 4wd. Got about everything but the locker and leather. Its pearl white and has 90000 miles on it and paid only 9000 bucks so I think I got a pretty decent deal. Not to many in Tulsa for sale that are worthy so I drove up to Nebraska where my dad lives and bought one. He is on his 3rd 4runner now. Everything works good on it except on the highway the hood lifts a tiny bit like say just under a 1/4 inch. I kinda messed with the rubber adjustment things under the hood on the way back everytime i stopped but I couldnt figure out how to make that go away. It does have a bugshield on it but its not making it close funny or anything like that. So has anyone else has this problem and what else did they do? Any info would be helpful. Thanks.

PS...I am a former 95 cherokee owner and it had a 2" lift with 31" tires and i drove it for 5 years and sold it with 192000 miles on it. The only work I ever had to do to it was some oil chances, 1 set of tires, 1 brake job, 1 water pump and radiator. I hope my toyota is as good.

Well any help on the hood lifting up on highway speeds? Also when im parked and pull up on it the right side comes up more than the left...so that seemed odd...the gaps are just fine though

Wlecome huskres. Nice choice and great deal!

Regarding the hood...

Sometimes the bug shield causes vibration at highway speeds. I would remove it, drive it around and see if that is the problem.

I noticed it before when I had my shield. Took it off and never noticed the vibration again.

Surprised you didnt have to replace the tranny on that Jeep, i've had multiple friends with jeeps with half that mileage that had to get new trannies ...NO WORRIES with the toyota

And just to think I towed about every weekend during the summer with that jeep. Pulling either a 16 foot boat or a pop up camper. I sold it to a guy down the street so I wonder how long it is going to last him. Can anyone point me to good front rotors and pads for under $200 say from NAPA?

And damnt I forgot to mention on the drivers side rear seat I cant get the damn bottom cushion to flip up so I can lay all the seats down. The passenger side pulls out just just. I pulled really hard actually kinda hurting my hand. So is there any other way to get the lil pull thing to work without pulling the bolts outta the seat?

Pull the tab thingy that releases the seat horizontal, not up. I learned that the hard way myself once!!

Stay away from the NAPA stuff and use what most of here have found to work great: Brembo Rotors ($90 from www.importrp.com) and Performance Friction brake pads ($40 available at Autozone. Make sure you get part# 5024 for a '96 Land Cruiser, not the one they show for the 4Runner. I know it sounds weird, but they fit perfect). Good luck!

Hey, and welcome from another Tulsa member!

Check out the Ozarks group in the 4Runner Owners Club - we try to have semi-regular outings.

Did you know that a majority of dealers use napa if they dont have a toyota product in stock. I used to work at a few dealerships. Anyways I think I can get some Brembo's from a guy I pick up from. I am a Fedex driver and get performance parts at cost. I never really bought anything for my Jeep there but they said theyd hook me up. Now I just need some damn money haha

Or push down on the front of the cushion while pulling up on the rear tab, (near the seat belt buckles).

How'd that bug shield work out?
