question about 04 power door locks
Hi Group,
I know some of you have direct Toyota info and I was wondering if someone could help withy a question. I recently got an 04 4Runner Sport V6 4X4 (I love it) and I saw in the owners manual how to reprogram the door lock/unlock functions but I don't seem to be able to reprogram them. In the manual it says
1 with all doors closed turn ignition to the on position
2 within 10 seconds pres and hold door lock switch in lock/unlock for 5 sec. (depends on what you want to do )
3 with trans in park/anthing else (depends on what you want to do)
Is this the right proceeder for the 04 4Runner
Hope you can help cause the dealer insists I bring it in for this and that's the last thing I want to do.
Thanks,
Dave

04 power door lock functions
Hey there....
I just got my 04 recently and went through the same thing with the door locks. It seemed as if it didn't work a number of times (4+) but then all of a sudden it worked. I pretty much followed the instructions each time and I couldn't say why the last time it worked. I started using a stopwatch to monitor my 5 second timing just to make sure. Just keep trying, I am sure you will get it. It sure is handy having those doors unlock when you put it into park.

Wow,
You can program the thing to unlock when you go to park? I have the '03 sport by the way. If I can do that, it would be so much more convenient. Thanks for the information.

Toyota means 5 seconds... Not 5.1, not 4.9... FIVE SECONDS. I used a stopwatch and it took me a few tries.
Hey UWF ! There was a great wreck today on campus, someone did a tree and over the median by the pool. Shut traffic down ! HA !
