question

i have a bit of a dilemma with my truck. coming off of a celica, 3 camrys, and a previa before my truck, i'm having a bit of a tough time adjusting to a certain aspect of it. all of my previous vehicles not only warned you when your light were on and your engine was off, but they went one step ahead and TURNED THEM OFF FOR YOU once you opened the door, thus making it next to impossible to leave your lights on by accident. geez, even my nova before all of those vehicles had a warning sound. i don't know if my truck is supposed to have a buzzer or what, but i think i really need one. i've had it for about 3 months now, and i've had to get 3 jumps already because i left the stupid lights on. :pat: do i have a malfunction in my truck where the buzzer doesn't work or did it just not come with one? if it is broke, what are my first steps to look into fixing it? if it doesn't come with one, is there any way to GET one? i gotta do something. it's embarrassing! i've given jumps to TONS of women (no offense to the ladies) who have forgotten to turn their lights off and a few men as well. i've never ONCE used my cables on myself until i got my truck. THREE times now and counting! (by the way, i've never been on this side of the cables until recently, and if you are one of those who never gets jumped but always GIVES jumps (like myself until recently), just know that it is GREATLY appreciated! you guys are lifesavers!)

I don't think it has a buzzer. My 92 Toy PU didn't have one, I was always leaving my lights on too.

My 82 sr5 doesnt have one, maybe they figured we would be getting in and out of our trucks quite often on the trails to help spot or pull somebody out. would get annoying with 3 or 4 buzzers going off.

Hey man........Same Probelm here.......but mine did have one....BUT WAS DISCONNECTED.

Remove the kick panel from under the drivers side, under the fuse box(two screws). Once this is off you should see the wiring harness. Now...there should be the main harness and then a Red single wire coming off from it and running up into the door. It looks like is has one of those IN-LINE Fuse's, but thats actually the connector. Mine was unplugged. Yours might be also.

Um....ha ha.....word to the wise....IF you do have one and IF you decide to install a Tach.....DO NOT get power from this point....UNLESS you are okay with your tachometer loosing power when the door is opened...... ! HA HA...I have to admit I did this and was about to burn the truck because I was testing it with the door closed, and then I would start to get out and check somthing else.....and then come back and look in and the thing was not working. I am embarresed to say It took me 30min to figure out all i needed to do was....CLOSE THE FRIGGIN DOOR.
