Unhappy q about 87 runner rear disk conv?

hate to start my post history with a stupid one but i think i may have done something dumb... im rebuilding my rear and am going to add disks to it. i think when i removed the drums i threw something away i needed. i have the housing and axles sitting there. but what goes in place of the drum back plate? isnt there supposed to be an outer flange that caps the outer axle bearing? anyone have a set of what i need? thanks

you arent supposed to remove the entire backing plate from the old drums, just cut off enough material from it so there isnt any interference. I have some pictures on my computer at home from when i did it. I might post them tonight if you like.

yea, definetly not supposed to toss the whole backing plate. Heres the only two good pics i could find to show what i did. After i cut out the square i rounded off the edges so there wasnt anythign sharp to catch on anymore

i havent used them yet, since my truck is still a giant paperweight

i've heard its wonderful, you just have to ditch the automatic proportioning valve and install a permanent adjustable one at the lowest setting b/c the discs grab so much harder than the drums. Otherwise you'll lock up the rear long before the fronts.
