Pwer to manual windows?

(asked at Mud and 4x4wire also) Does anyone know if in the '96-'01 4Runners the power windows can be swapped out for manuals without changing the whole door, just changing the regulator and interior panel? I'm looking at theses vehicles, but I hate electric windows, and manuals in these trucks are rare! Thanks in advance, -Keith B._

I had manual windows waay back and since I seldom drive with the A/C on, it was a pain to open and then close all of them each time.

However now that my '96 windows (power) are starting to feel sluggish, the cost of replacing the window motors in all five makes me cringe :p

do some basic maintenance on the windows and the motors will last a very long time. take the door panel off and oil the tracks real good. there may be dirt in them clean them out if there is. that should help a lot. I also like to use silicon spay on the rubber tracks that the glass slides in. if you do that every few years they will keep going strong. I would bet that doing that will help with the slow window.

Just never liked them...probably a majority of folks prefer them, but I've met quite a few people who have power windows, but would have bought manual IF THEY HAD HAD A CHOICE!

My manual windows still go up and down at the same speed as when they where new It's a '97 4Runner.

I wouldn't mind automatic windows, but am not too concerned either way.

i'm about to put power windows in mine, it is my understanding that all you need to do is replace the regulators and you are good to go.
