purchasing a 00 S/c'd runner?

Looking at a 00 Mil silver sport with an SC, trd headers and exhaust all installed at a dealer in colorado. Any pointers on what to look for? It has 46K and all this was installed new. I think it does have a trd tranny cooler too but I am nervous about tranny problems and ping. I know the warranty is in effect because it was installed at the dealer but I don't know how to test the tranny for problems and really don't want to battle toyota for warranty issues. And finally the price. 22,900. It books for 18500 kbb. And I know I will NEED gadgets fuel mod kit. Any advise on price and what to check would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Well if its in Colorado, it may not have been pinging. I know that I don't ping in SLC, but when I go to Vegas it starts to ping..

I would smell the tranny fluid, and see if it smells burnt.

I think that you may be better off finding a non-s/c truck for cheaper and then buying a TRD S/C and install it yourself. I like to buy stock vehicles and mod them myself.

I have a '99 SR5 with a TRD supercharger. Yes, the tranny cooler is a good idea, and yes, Gadget's fuel/electronics fix is probably going to be another purchase. Also factor in the installation if you're not mechanically inclined.

Another thing to consider is transmission slippage due to the increased horsepower. After SC installation, I had a tremendous lag between first and second gears. I took the truck to John at Import Performance Transmissions (www.importperformancetransmissions.com) for modification of the valve body and the shift lag was eliminated. However, be advised that once that mod is done, the lag becomes a very firm shift. My wife renamed my 'Runner "LURCH" because of that firm shift.

Beyond that, just be aware that you will have acquired Modification Fever and will soon be ordering new suspension, new wheels, new tires, new ... well, you get the idea.

Hope that helps,

Don
