Pulstar spark plugs

Just installed these plugs today. Hoping it will at least increase the fuel mileage. Has anyone else used them? I do feel alittle extra getup but never know for sure. Ill give an update if I see anything new with the GPM.

Do a search on IH8Mud.com. There is a guy there that put those in his 80- or 100-series recently.

DO not use these plugs!!...
They are a marketing gimmick (in my opinion). Your spark is mostly predetermined and these plugs are not really a help...If you dont believe me do a google search for people who have used these plugs and almost ruinied their engines IE... the spark plug electrode falling off in the cylinder scratching the crap out of the cylinder walls...Fyi a little piece of metal like that can 100% Ruin your 7000.00 engine (dealer cost). I have heard of numerious reports of knocking and pinging being caused by these plugs shortly after install with poorly running engines. Reciently read a review from a guy who just bought a 5.7 tundra and his engine started to Knock and Ping whle going up a steep hill (after installing these plugs). After a nightmare of driving the truck for a week or two, he pulled the plugs and guess what he found....? The end of the plug was gone.....gee wiz its great to have loose metal in your engine causing all kinds of havok...
in my opinion, these plugs are 100% UN-PROVEN I believe it is all marketing BS... Don't take this the wrong way, yet If that was my truck I would have pulled those plugs out YESTERDAY... no joke.

Dont try to over/out think the toyota engineers on this one... trust me!

NGK or NipponDenso only - NO BOSCH for sure - if you want to go fancy, try the NGK or ND platinum or iridium

Remember Split Fire spark plugs? I hate to say it man, but it really is just marketing

I prefer Denso plugs for Toyota vehicles. They're only around $3/ea from the dealer. The correct plug for your engine is the K16TR11 which is a dual-ground-electrode plug, which will work fine for at least 24,000 miles.

what he said.

a spark is a spark is a spark. a hotter spark doesn't increase mileage one tiny bit. if the cylinder it lit, it is working. if it doesn't light the computer will figure that out and trigger a misfire MIL.

100% bogus to pay for some fancy plug that claims this and that, when in fact the engine ECU is running the show and is already optimizing the engine as much as it can be optimized without installing a whole new engine chip and fuel rail, injectors and whatnot.

save yer loot

this is an accurate post from a corvette forum on these things
-----
A spark in the combustion chamber has one job and one job only...ignite the mixture. Once ignition has been obtained, the flame front progresses across the combustion chamber regardless of the manner in which ignition occurred. The average power delivered by the spark of each spark plug is about the same and the energy delivered is about the same too...based on their numbers, about .0015 watt-seconds for conventional plugs vs .002 watt-seconds for this scam plug.

I can make a case for the Pulstar plug making less power. They say their spark lasts 2 billionths of a second while in conventional plugs the spark lasts 30 milllionths of a second. That means there is a shorter amount of time the A/F mixture is exposed to a means of igniting, so if the swirling mixture isn't exactly the right ratio at the point of the Pulstar when it gets its' short burst, a misfire will result causing a reduction in power and with the new OBD II system, it'll throw an "engine misfire" code. The longer duration of the conventional plug means a longer opportunity to ignite a marginal mixture. This is like an engine that makes high peak power but only in a very narrow, very high RPM range vs an engine that has less peak power but it's average power over the RPM band used during acceleration (usuable power band) is much greater. The engine with less peak power will kick the high peak power engine's butt all the way down the quarter mile.

Just another company preying on the ignorance of the general public in these times of high gas prices. Put it in the same category as the "Tornado" device et al that claim gains in HP and MPG with a simple device that's cheap enough for people to say "what the hell, it's not much money if it doesn't work", but they make a killing because it cost them pennies on the dollar to produce. Whenever you see one of these simple "devices", ask yourself in these times of high gas prices, EPA demands for higher MPG, and the consumers clamouring for high MPG cars, why don't we see any single car manufacturer putting these gas saving/power making devices on their cars from the facory so they can be the first with a car getting 100 MPG???

I tell them about the great MPG of the 'Vettes and they slap their head and say "I could've had a V8!"

I have to agree... Denso or NGK only. I've tried the gimmick plugs before with no better results. So far the only "fancy" plugs I've tried that are half way worth a flip are the NGK iridium.

And X2 on the Bosch... leave those at the store.

Just an update I kinda got lazy and never removed the plugs but my MPG went back to normal but no real increase in MPG.
IAW http://www.fueleconomy.gov/ My online records only go back till after the swap to the Pulstar plugs but I was tracking on sheet records back then. Probably next month I will swap them out with regular stock plugs to see a real difference. I did get an small increase in static noise feedback from my speakers.
