Proper cleaning instructions for Amsoil Air Filter TS115

Guys,

This probably and should go in the "Maintenance" section, but I believe this might be of value here as well. I emailed the Amsoil company to get their instructions on the proper way to clean their filter. Here is what they said:

"Cleaning the filter is a snap. Follow the procedure and your filter will be good as new!

Service Instructions:

1. Remove filter from air filter housing.
2. Clean housing with a shop towel, paper towel, etc.
3. Wash filter in detergent and water (including metal frame). ALLOW FOAM TO DRY THOROUGHLY. (Alternate cleaning procedure: wash filter in parts cleaning solution and ALLOW TO DRY THOROUGHLY)
4. Re-oil foam with AMSOIL Foam Filter Oil (AFO), using liberally.
5. Work oil into filter foam by squeezing it repeatedly until oil penetrates throughout foam.
6. Blot excess oil from filter with shop towel, or paper towel, etc.
7. Reinstall.

I emailed him back in regards to what kind of detergent to use (Step #3) and he replied:

Any good detergent soap will do. You don't have to buy anything special. I like to use a liquid dish washing soap, these usually have good detergent properties. If you have a liquid soap that you use for your "dishwasher" it will work excellent as it is a strong soap and has high detergent properties. I detergent soap holds dirt, grease, and oil in suspension and allows it to be rinsed effectively leaving a clean filter media to reuse. Detergent soaps so state they are detergent on the product label either on the front or back of the container.
"
Of note, let the filter thoroughly dry. Another good reason not to chuck the stock air filter!
