Program Keyless Entry: '03 Tacoma
Does anyone know the sequence of actions to take to program the keyless entry system on a '03 Tacoma Dbl Cab? I followed the instructions at
http://www.customtacos.com/tech/inde...x_v2&id=84&c=6
but they didn't work. In fact, i tried a few different variations and now my keyless entry doesn't work at all.
I searched and found some info for the 4Runner but nothing for the newer Tacoma. What I'd like is for all the doors to unlock the first time I hit the button.
If anyone has access to the Tacoma Service Manual or knows the sequence, I'd really appreciate the help.
Thanks!

my friend and I did what you are asking about to his 2003 tacoma. It looks like the instructions were what it said in that link. If I get a chance I'll check my manual (I've got an '03 taco, too). But I think that link is the right info. I remember that when the programming is successful, the chirp will chirp, the horn will honk and the the lights will flash four times to signify a successful program after step 2H and before step 3. That link didn't mention that. Then again at the end they will flash/sound once.
EDIT: i checked my manual and those instructions in the link are correct. Maybe make sure you do step one carefully, my manual says
"Before you begin:
Open the driver's door.
Remove the key from the ignition switch."
So I would guess that you should start out in the truck with the key in, ignition off (LOCK), and door closed.
PS- Why don't you have the manual with your new truck?? Do you have the "do it yourself" alarm upgrade?? i did that to my buddy's '03, the one I'm talking about above. I found the link about it on the customtacos site, and posted it in the "free stuff" section.

from what I understand, you have to get the timing down, exactly as it states or it won't work. I know other people had trouble too but it was because the timing has to be dead-on.

Well, I took it to the dealer and they re-programmed the key fob to work the old way.
Of course as soon as I got home I tried it again. It worked this time. No more 4 stupid beeps to open the doors.
Thanks!
