problems with my new runner ARGHHH!!
First off,
Im not mechanically inclined. So please excuse me if these questions sound dumb.
When I start my runner, there is white smoke coming out of my tail pipe, and it is also dripping water. After I drive it a few miles, the smoke and water go away.
Is this something serious??
Also there is a loud "wooooo" sound coming from the vehicle when I accelerate past 60 on the freeway. Its pretty loud and annoying. I dont know if this is coming from the engine itself or the suspension.
But when I start my car up and rev the engine in Park, There is NO "wooooing" sound. It seems as though I will only hear the sound when the car is in motion.
Timing belt and water pump have been replaced by the toyota dealer last oct.
Someone Help

from what your telling me no it doesnt sound like a problem, the water coming from your tailpipe is normal every car has water coming out from time to time, that wooooooing sound is more in likely just your passing gear kicking in! good luck...

If it cold where you live it will do that. All cars do it. When you crank it its like a steam coming out warm air hitting the cold air. Some do more than others. The water is just condensation that gets built up also. All cars do this some more than others.
X2 on the passing gear. When it does it are you trying to speed up or going up hill?

it might be your tires or maybe your differential.
You might want to get it on a lift to see whats going on. Did this wooing just start happening? Hows the fluid in the rear differential?

Did dealer change tranny and diff fluid for you too? If not you might want to do that anyway just for good measure. Can you have a buddy stick his head out the window and pinpoint where the wooo is coming from, rear end, engine, tires, etc.?

its not the fan..
Im trying to pinpoint where its coming from.
Seems like its coming from the front of the engine.
but as i stated before..
I rev the engine in park, and it sounds fine.

A little water in tail pipe: Normal
White smoke is from burnt coolant. Sometimes when engines are cold they will show white smoke until they warm up. I would not worry about it unless the it starts acting very different. If it drives and acts fine, leave it alone, its good.
Humming sound like washer machine on highway: My best guess is wind. Do you have something cracked open or not closed fully? ie; window, hood, etc? My STi would make a loud humming sound, but it was at speeds of 150+, lol.

2WD makes noise from front around 60 or above? My first guess would be tires or front wheel bearings. If you think the noise is from the engine compartment then I would look at the water pump, power steering pump, belt tension pulley, alternator & A/C compressor.
"White smoke" from exhaust? Or steam? A little steam & water from the exhaust can be normal. Excessive steam could mean a bad head gasket. Is your coolant level consistent, or is it dropping? After your truck has warmed up, carefully hold a rag near the exhaust (CAUTION!!! it will be HOT!!) if the rag feels damp or smells like coolant, it could be the head gasket. If your gas has alcohol or it is humid where you are, this test may not be accurate.
If you put your location in your profile, someone close might be willing to help you.

Im located in Houston Tx.
My coolant level is consisitent.
I think it may be just the cold weather over here.
My main concern is the wooooing sound.
Its very loud and annoying.
I forgot to mention that I also have a squeaking sound..
I believe that it may be a belt, but I am not certain.
I think Im heading to a mechanic today, but damn I sure hope he doesnt rip me a good one.

starting sounds normal to me,condensation in exhaust.water dripping out of exhaust is normal(product of complete combustion process)...wooosh sound could be intake resonance and/or clutch fan heating up and engaging, normal as well....
