problem with 94
Ever since I got the head gasket replaced I have been running into problems. First off, I've been getting a loud humming noise when the truck is in idle from what I thought was the alt. but after replacing the alt. the noise continues. Second, I have a power steering leak. (I believe the leak was there before the HG replacement but it has gotten worse). Third, my truck is really sluggish lately, more than usual. At about 2k rpm it hesitates like it is not getting enough gas. Sometimes right after cranking and putting it into gear, it fees like it is going to die and then it goes. I think it might be the fuel filter but I don't know. Are the fuel filters easy to change or should I take it to a shop? I know very little when it comes to getting under the hood and figuring out what it is that is wrong with my truck. If anybody can help me out I would appreciate it.

I have problems resulting from head gasket replace
my problems are similar to yours with a few extra. first off my truck runs great after first started but after it gets to normal running temp it goes sluggish. When I mash the clutch to stop my rpm's drop to about 250 until I come to a complete stop and then they return to normal, at first I thought it was in my head but it never fails everytime I stop it returns to normal Also I recognized a signifigant lose of power. Before the repair at about 3000rpm's it would pick up and take off but now it's steady and slow the whole way. I considerd an electric fan I thought that maybe my clutch fan was robing all my power but I dont think it is robing this much.

Here is what you need to do if you are having problems after having the head gasket replaced.
First go to the dealership that did the work and have them look at it. If they won't fix the problem, call Toyota directly. 1-800-331-4331 This is the number I got off this website. Do not mess with your 4runner and try to fix the problem. Instead it may get worse or something else might happen. Trust me I know from experience.
The work is warrantied for 12 months/12,000 miles. You are entitled to have your truck run like it did when you took it in there.
Stand up to Toyota and get your problem fixed. Once again, do not try to fix it on your own. Make them fix their mistakes.
Good Luck
