price check
Well its been a while since Ive done stuff to my 4runner and i figured out whats next. I want to install the tall 99 coils on my 4runner for a small amount of lift. I got a quote from my mechanic and for parts and labor, i would get charged 640 bucks. i would like to get a nice lift kit but i cant justify the money and use for it where i live. seems like a decent price but wanted to check with you guys and see what you think.

Coil spacers(rear). Ball joints(front).
The 'magic' 99 coils are neat, but they will still sag a bit, thats why in addition to the 99 coils, put some spacers in there at the same time.
Putting in the rear coils and spaces is a really easy DIY kind of job with a few jacks and such. The front is a bit trickier, but can be done at home. Where are the coils coming from? toyota new? used?

is that shocks and springs or just springs?
You can do it yourself, its pretty easy, except for putting the front shock and spring together. What i would do is get some bilstein shocks front and rear, and some ome springs 881's and 906's

why replace the springs if you want to keep the costs down? just buy some 1, 2 or 3 inch spacers depending on how much lift you want. they're cheap and can be installed in about 2 hours. if you go more than 2" you'll probably have to replace the shocks as well.

One of the stiffest shocks I have ever used - if you do Bils and spacers you will be bouncing all over the place.
I would go with an all OME setup.
Soft enough for comfort on road but the performance off-road is commendable at the least.
If you're going to do it, I would do it right.
Especially if you were thinking of dropping that much dough for just some '99 coils.
You could spend a couple hundred more (maybe not even that much if you do your homework and shopping) and have a sweeter setup.
Just my $.02,
Fink
