Prepping the Runner for the big journey!
I finally got all the documents I need to ship my Runner back to America. It should be outta here by the end of the week with some luck or the first part of next week. I've gotta get it washed and waxed. Going to take the flares off and clean the fenders. Interior will get done really nicely as well. I'll drop the Runner off here, then it'll get trucked down to the shipyard where it'll get on a boat. According to my GPS it's 4767.22 miles from here to Seattle in a straight line so I figure it'll have gone around 6000 miles on the boat. The journey is supposed to take about 60 days or so. I can't wait to pick it up and drive her back to my hometown. In my dead end place in the world I'm pretty sure it'll be one of the nicest rigs in town I been waiting to cruise through my hometown for quite a while now!! Only bad part about the whole deal is 2 whole months without my truck :pat:

Pour a can of Stabil fuel additive into it before running the tank down for transport. It'll keep it fresh for those two months and help prevent varnish and deposits from gumming up the works, especially the injectors. Hurry home!

There are a number of threads on the board about his deployment in Iraq (and I think a total of 3 other Yotatech members). This one in particular talks about Joey:

but when will you get back stateside? Where will you be stationed?
Stationed in Washington? Right on! Thinking about 4ROC???
why would you want to clean and wax the rig if it's gonna be on a nasty boat for 60 days, ya know? Just a thought that popped into my head.
Mpulver good explanation. Mildenhall is actually a Royal AirForce Base but the Americans operate it. Basically the land is the Queens but everything on it is ours. There's also RAF Lakenheath 5 miles down the road. They fly F-15's.
I am getting very anxious to be back. I haven't been home in 2 years. Plus it's just exciting because even though I'll be doing the same job it's almost like starting over because I have never lived on my own in the states before. I was 18 right out of highschool when I moved to England. I lived in the dorms for 2 years but have had my own house here for the last 2 years. I'm not looking forward to packing my stuff that's for sure. It'll be well worth it though!

Joey, when you get back, we'll have to plan a small run on a Saturday upto Greenwater FS road 70, and I'll show you some of the areas we like to explore.
It will give you a good chance to use the GPS too, and we can find this hidden lake that we explored last August up there.

Corey sounds good. I should still be on leave when the Runner arrives so I can plan to pick it up on a Saturday. I could always spend a couple days up there depending on how it works out. Can't wait to meet some of you guys in person. Hard to believe I've been talking to alot of you for close to 2 years on here and ODW before that.

Joey, Congrats on Fairchild. I am still jealous that you get to go back to the states. I am stuck in Germany for another 2 1/2 years. Just make sure you keep an eye on your packers and make sure everything is on the packing list before you sign it. Also make sure all the scratchs and dents are documented when you turn in your Runner and the mileage. My buddy just got back to Tinker and his M3 had 250 extra miles on it....hmmmm Well have fun in the states. I just got from leave and alot has changed in the year an a half since I left.
